HOOKED RUG WITH 2-MASTED SCHOONER, ca 1900-1920:
Made ca 1900 -1920, this American hooked rug features a two-masted schooner at full sail on a green sea, tailed by a trio of gulls, framed by a red & white, prairie-point style border. The half-moon shaped format and somewhat diminutive size make it perfect for hanging above a doorway or above a bed.
Mounting: Sewn Velcro stretch-mount on a custom-made frame of the same shape and roughly the same size, covered in black cotton twill that has been specially treated for colorfastness.
Condition: Faded but very attractive colors, very minor oxidation and staining.
